Why the Lotus Flower?

Why the Lotus Flower? (Read Only Lesson)

I spent a great deal of time trying to figure out what should be my logo and my brand. It actually took me several years.

At first I settled on a Phoenix rising from the ashes but then I felt that was not a very calming energy.

Above all, I wanted to have my brand represent healing energy. I have had 7 years to think about this, and it seemed like it was a very slow process.  And honestly the inspiration came to me right when I needed it.

As I learned about Chakras I was very drawn to the healing colors of the heart chakra.  It is said that that Heart Chakra is green on the front side and pink on the inside.  This intrigued me.  As I studied the chakras I decided to look into the meaning of colors and aura colors.  I learned that color therapy is another form of energy healing. We are drawn like a magnet to certain colors. Some colors uplift us and give us energy like yellow and orange.  Some colors bring us peace, like blues and greens.

The green color of the heart chakra really shouldn’t come as any surprise, especially when you consider the fact that green is often associated with life and something that is constantly being renewed. Positive emotions like love and joy are often associated with renewal as well as with life itself. Even emotions that are commonly thought of as being negative, such as anger, can be dealt with in a positive manner as long as this particular chakra is in balance with the others, especially the throat chakra. When you are talking about auras, they are similar in meaning to chakras. A green aura is associated with healing, love, compassion, and forgiveness.

The Heart Chakra is also associated with the color Pink. The Heart Chakra is the centre chakra, with three chakras above and three below. It represents love and relationships. The pink is thought to represent unconditional love in a soft, nurturing way. This pink color is a soft pink, like baby pink. Pink is often associated with spirituality and inner peace. Hmmm, imagine that? If you have pink in your aura you are likely living from your heart and that means your are kind caring and loving.

I also had one of my Therapists explain to me that I was on a pathway of healing.  This was not a small event in my life, but it was a journey. One that would lead me places I have never been  before, and it could take a very long time.  She encouraged me to try to find joy in the journey.  She explained that the advantage of having your life burned to the ground could be a blessing if I chose to see it that way.  I had the opportunity to build it back anyway I chose.  I was completely in charge, so I should take time on my journey to find a path of self discovery.  If I took my time I would learn new things about myself I never knew before.  This idea gave me some hope.  I liked the idea of being on a pathway of my own choosing.

With all of this information percolating in my head, it was no accident when I happened to see a meme on Facebook about the Lotus flower. It was at this point that everything came together.

The lotus flower meaning varies from culture to culture. In general, however, the lotus commonly serves as a sacred symbol for purity, rebirth, and strength. Because lotuses rise from the mud without stains, they are often viewed as a symbol of purity. Since they return to the murky water each evening and open their blooms at the break of day, lotus flowers are also symbols of strength, resilience, and rebirth. Still another lotus flower meaning is transcendence: the lotus represents the transcending of man’s spirit over worldly matter since it blooms from the underworld into the light. This hit home for me. I knew what my logo and brand should be.

The pathway to inner peace, the colors of renewal, healing, love, and forgiveness, with a symbol of rebirth, purity, strength, and transcendence.  Sounds perfect for what I envisioned for my healing program.  I find it very interesting how inspiration from God works.  Finding my brand was a kind of pathway all on its own!
